Objective: This study examines how digital banking technologies, including automated teller machines (ATMs), mobile banking, online banking, and electronic funds transfer (EFT), impact workers' job satisfaction in Pakistan's banking sector.
Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative, cross-sectional study design employed convenience sampling to collect survey data from 256 bank employees. The information was gathered using a standardized questionnaire with thirty items rated on a five-point Likert scale. The relationships between employees' perceptions of digital banking apps and job satisfaction were examined using statistical analysis.
Findings: The test’s results demonstrate a strong correlation between positive perceptions of ATMs, mobile banking, internet banking, and EFT and higher levels of employee job satisfaction. When employees believed that digital banking technology was useful and efficient, they reported feeling more satisfied with their jobs. However, the cross-sectional methodology, convenience sampling, and reliance on self-reported data limit the results' generalizability and causal interpretation.
Practical implications: Banking organizations can enhance digital transformation initiatives with employee-focused strategies like digital skills training, user-friendly platforms, task management, and effective technical support to boost employee satisfaction and encourage successful technology adoption.
Originality/value: This study contributes to the limited empirical data about the relationship between the use of digital banking and the job satisfaction of Pakistani employees. By examining how employees perceive different digital banking technologies, it expands our understanding of the implications of digital transformation for human resources in the banking sector in emerging nations.
